The promos of this movie were quite good and gave the impression of being an uproarious laugh riot. Unfortunately You, Me and Dupree fails precisely in the laughs department. The premise isn’t new but has the potential for great humour.

Carl (Matt Dillon) and Molly (Kate Hudson) are newly married but have an unwanted guest in their house Dupree (Owen Wilson) – who happens to be Carl’s best friend and has lost his job and house because he had taken the weekend off for Carl’s wedding without informing his boss. Now Carl feels responsible for this and against Molly’s wishes invites over Dupree to stay in their house until he finds a job. Dupree turns out be this eccentric and goofy guy whose antics drive everyone crazy. Meanwhile, Carl’s boss (Michael Douglas) – who also happens to be his father-in-law is giving him a tough time at work which takes toll on his marriage. Amidst this mayhem, Dupree finally decides to set things right.

Actually, I didn’t find the movie bad but it could have been much better. Most of the humour is recycled but it works primarily because of the cast; the downside is that even these jokes are far and few in between. Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo – famous for their TV series “Arrested Development” don’t get it right here.

Owen Wilson as Dupree gets to do his usual buffoonery and succeeds well. Kate Hudson looks amazing as always. Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas also have their moments. You can check out this flick if you don’t have anything else to do; not really boring but nothing great to look out for either.
