Voted to be the “Most Overlooked Film of the Year” in 2005, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is the perfect example of new age film noir. Smart, witty and highly entertaining…this is one movie I really enjoyed watching in recent times.

An interesting narrative which details the events of a few days in the life of Harry (Robert Downey Jr.). Harry is a thief who accidently becomes an actor trying to escape from the police. He then has to train with a private detective “Gay” Perry (Val Kilmer) for a movie role. Also, he happens to meet his childhood love Harmony (Michelle Monaghan). All of them get embroiled in a murder case and how things move on from there is what the movie is all about.

It is not really the story but the clever screenplay with lots of humour that does the trick. This is famous screenwriter Shane Black’s directorial debut and he scores full marks. Robert Downey Jr. is the life of this movie. His expressions as well as his style of delivery is perfect. He is ably supported by Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan.

This movie reminds you a lot of Tarantino and similar directors who have successfully created a new genre of crime dramas. If a smart and stylish crime thriller is what you want to watch then do not miss this one.
